The City of Ennis, located 30 minutes south of downtown Dallas, is emerging as a preferred development and residential site in the southern tier of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

This historic community of 19,000 is nestled among three beautiful lakes that provide not only an abundance of recreational opportunity but also a residential setting that is unsurpassed. Ennis contains 144 historic structures that appear on the National Register of Historic Places. These structures grace the community and point to a proud past of railroad and agricultural activity in a bustling turn-of-the-century community. Today, Ennis is a planned community that is committed to the quality of life for its citizens. Ennis has excellent public schools. Ennis High School was recognized nationally as an “Example of Excellence” by U.S. News and World Report, January 18, 1999. Ennis High School has also been named among the top 96 American High Schools and among the top nine High Schools in Texas. All four of the district’s elementary schools are ranked “Exemplary” by TEA. The district owns one of the finest tennis facilities in the state and a 10,000 seat football stadium. The City of Ennis boasts fourteen parks, six meeting halls, and a superb eighteen-hole golf course. Ennis is known for other fine community facilities such as the Ennis Regional Medical Center, the Ennis Public Library, and the Ennis Railroad and Cultural Heritage Museum.

Ennis is recognized for its strong economic vitality. More than 5,400 industrial workers are employed by 64 industries that make their home in Ennis. During the last fourteen years, the tax base for the City of Ennis has doubled.

Without question, Ennis is a “Rising Star” in the State of Texas.
