Business owners along the storm’s path are only now seeing the full extent of the damage to their facilities today.

Imran Meer of Doc’s Beverage said he is unsure exactly when his store will reopen, though he intends to have it open within two weeks.

“There’s so many unknowns,” Meer said. “I’m going to stay up here tonight to get my store back in business.”

Plans are in place to see the Brookshire’s location on W. Ennis Avenue open May 22.

Work on the future location of Brookshire’s in Ennis is moving that a pace that puts expected completion in early May.

The company’s construction inspector has told city officials the project is coming along well. The store will occupy roughly 37,400 square feet.

The new owners of All Star Bowl are hoping fresh renovations and promised future improvements are enough to lure league bowlers back to Ennis.

Billy Kathey and his fiance Lauren Daniel bought All Star Bowl from the bank in October, and spent almost three months cleaning and fixing up the building before re-opening in December.

The Ennis Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Ennis Quick Care, an urgent care clinic located at 2200 Physicians Blvd. off the U.S. 287 Bypass, on Jan. 10. The facility, led by Dr.?Bart Crosby, offers treatment of work-related injuries, minor accident aid, X-rays, lab work, virus, cold and flu treatment, physicals, workers compensation assessments and other services. CVS acquired 19 Medicine Chest drug stores in Texas during the last weekend of December, including the Ennis store.

CVS planned to operate nine of the acquired locations and relocate 10 other Medicine Chest pharmacies into nearby existing CVS pharmacy locations. Medicine Chest will continue to operate its remaining 10 locations.

A new grocery store is coming to town.

Mayor Russell Thomas announced Friday that Brookshire’s submitted plans for a new supermarket to the city, plans set to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission in September.

The new Brookshire’s, Thomas said, will be built near the corner of Yorkstown Drive and West Ennis Avenue.
