<p>The Ennis ISD School Board approved across-the-board pay raises for all school employees during their Monday night budget workshop.</p>
<p>Teachers will receive an across-the-board $1,200 pay raise added to their salary, amounting to an average increase between 2.3 and 2.94 percent, according to EISD Director of Communications Henry Martinez.</p>

<p>Kathryn Wall has worked in private mental health counseling for 18 years, the past three of them in Ennis. She specializes in working with autistic children — experience she brings to bear in her work overseas in Nigeria.</p>

<p>With six months of sales tax revenue on the books, Ennis has set records in four of them, but the impact of the May 16 tornado could put the brakes on the trend.</p>
<p>This year’s revenue leads City Manager Steve Howerton to one of the strongest statements on the local economy he has made since the 2008 fallout: Ennis is recovering from the nation’s worst economic hit in decades.</p>

<p>Preliminary standardized test results released Monday show Ennis Independent School District students making progress in state testing.</p>
<p>According to results broken down comparing 2013 to 2012, EISD improved in 19 out of 26 categories on state testing — including STAAR testing for elementary and junior high students, the final year of TAKS for juniors and End of Course tests.</p>

<p>Ennis Police Department patrol officer Ross Jones said the incident occurred when a passenger car ran a stop sign headed north off of the bypass and ran under the trailer of an 18-wheeler headed east.</p>

<p>EBBA&#8217;s two pitchers prevented KJT from making any hits and scoring runs.</p>
<p>EBBA pitchers Carlos Elizando (2 IP, 1 W, 6 K) and Austin Elbert (2 IP, 2 W, 6 K) held KJT from scoring any runs and making any hits during four innings.</p>

<p>City commissioners signed off Monday on  delinquent tax foreclosure sales for 10 properties left vacant as far back as 1998.</p>
<p>Properties on E. Freeman Street, Daffan Avenue, Pittsfield Street, N. Breckenridge Street, S. Owens Street, Quinlan Drive, E. Decatur Street, E. Latimer Street and W. Brown Street were included in the list of property sales accepted as a group by commissioners.</p>

<p>Last month’s wild weather took a toll on the local cotton crop.</p>
<p>Mark Arnold with the Texas A&amp;M Agrilife Extension service said anywhere from 1,000 to 2.000 acres of cotton had to be replanted after severe weather tore through the region.</p>
<p>However, Arnold said the area’s cotton producers are resilient enough to withstand the blow.</p>
