The second day of the inaugural Ellis County Futures Baseball Tournament proved to be exciting and unexpected. A younger Midlothian Panther team faced the older American Legion Senior Titans and proved they were a team to be reckoned with.

Price Distributing and defending state champion team American Legion went into the third Junior Boys League city championship game Friday with one win each. Price Distributing won game one 13-2 and American Legion came out on top 9-8 in game two.
American League Bubba’s Bar-B-Q (16-0) finished a perfect season in Ennis Wednesday night with a 23-11 victory over the National League Heli-Hunters (12-4) to claim the title of city champions in the Junior Midget League.
The top American League and National League teams in the Junior Midget League played the first of a best-of-three game city championship series Monday night. Undefeated Bubba’s Bar-B-Q (15-0) put the American League at a one game advantage after a 20-3 victory over Heli-Hunters (12-3).
PTL Construction (9-7) and Sign Plex (11-6) battled Friday night for the 8U Softball League championship. SP defeated PTL 12-1 in game one to force a tie-breaker game shortly afterward. PTL turned the tables on SP with a 10-5 victory to walk away with the championship.
Sign Plex (10-5) and American Legion Auxiliary (8-7) faced one another Thursday to determine who would advance to the final round of the 8U Softball League playoffs today and advance to the district championships in July.

The Ennis Lions 9U team has won the Texas State Youth Championship for the second year in a row.
American Legion made Ennis Little League history Thursday evening by becoming the first Ennis team to win a TTAB state championship. The junior boys’ league team defeated the Brownwood Lions 6-5 to win the title.
Just a few hours from now, American Legion can make Ennis Little League history.
The Van Vandals didn’t exactly explode against Bragg’s Appliance at the TTAB freshman state tourney on Tuesday night in Athens, but they also didn’t let the Ennis team ever get going offensively.
