As Ennis continues to get back to a level of normalcy after a weekend of severe weather, little league baseball continued Monday night at Bluebonnet Park.

Teams were able to complete the early evening games but the late games were called because of high winds and swaths of flying dirt impeding player visibility.

A local car dealership is helping to get Ennis Little League back on its feet after the loss of thousands of dollars in equipment.

Richard Rogers with Allen Samuels Autoplex presented Ennis Little League officials with a donation of new baseball equipment as part of its annual Chevrolet Youth Baseball initiative.

The Ennis Lions 9U team has once again claimed the State Youth Championship, and did so this season without having a single point scored against them.

The Ennis Lions 9U team has won the Texas State Youth Championship for the second year in a row.

This year, the team went 14-0 and did not allow a single team to score against them. In the past three years, the team went 40-0 and dominated every opponent with a score of 1172-33.

American Legion made Ennis Little League history Thursday evening by becoming the first Ennis team to win a TTAB state championship. The junior boys’ league team defeated the Brownwood Lions 6-5 to win the title.

Coach Porfy Rios predicted that Legion would face a close game Thursday. Neither team scored in the first inning and Brownwood started the top of the second with a two-run lead.

Just a few hours from now, American Legion can make Ennis Little League history.

With one victory in Stephenville, Legion can become the first Ennis team to win a TTAB state championship. The junior boys’ league team defeated Monahans and Brownwood on Wednesday to put itself on the brink of a title.

Bragg’s Appliance played its final game on Tuesday, but not before it won a city title, a district championship and a state tourney game.

The Van Vandals didn’t exactly explode against Bragg’s Appliance at the TTAB freshman state tourney on Tuesday night in Athens, but they also didn’t let the Ennis team ever get going offensively.

Van had a couple of three-run innings early and that proved to be plenty in a 6-0 win that eliminated Bragg’s Appliance (BA). Van finished with more hits (9-1) and fewer errors (1-5). BA seemed to be the much younger team, as Van infielders were significantly larger.

Bragg’s Appliance wasn’t able to taste TTAB state tourney success in Athens during the 2010 season, but a return trip on Monday brought new hope.

Bragg’s Appliance (BA) scored multiple runs in four of the final five innings on the way to a 12-8 victory over Holland. BA finished with more hits (11-9) and fewer errors (5-6).

After first representing Ennis at the TTAB state tournament in 2010, Bragg’s Appliance is going back to Athens this week to try and win it all.

Coach Kelly Bragg’s freshman league team is 20-1 this season and is coming off a strong district showing. Last season, Bragg’s Appliance (BA) advanced to the district finals and just missed out on state three years in a row.

The boys of the American Legion junior boys team are working hard to raise money for their trip to the state playoffs, and they need your help.

The team will wash cars Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the AutoZone in Ennis to raise money for their trip to the Little League state playoffs in Stephenville next Monday.

Ennis Sonic had to fight for its 8U TTAS state tourney life on Wednesday night in Mabank, and the red team seemed to have all the answers in the early ballgame.

Sonic kept the Westphalia Hotshots off the board for the only time in the top of the sixth, and then plated the winning run in the bottom of the frame to survive 12-11. The Hotshots finished with more hits (16-15) and errors (10-6).
