Lions topple Indians in OT

No. 23 Scott Muirhead was the top Lion scorer against the Indians Friday. He sank three three-pointers, one two-point field goal and one free throw.

The rivalry between the Ennis Lions (5-18, 1-6) and Waxahachie Indians (2-22, 0-7) always makes for an exciting game and Friday was no exception. Both teams went into Friday’s game winless in district and were determined to break their losing streaks.

The Ennis Lions (4-18, 0-6) continued to struggle in district play with an 86-50 loss to the Lancaster Tigers (10-13, 4-2) on Tuesday. Problems with shooting accuracy and the lack of defensive rebounds limited Lion chances to overcome an all-around strong Tiger team.

Tuesday’s Ennis JV Lions basketball (7-7, 2-4) game got off to a rough start. The Lions faced a much taller Lancaster Tiger team that made it difficult to make shots and put their hands on rebounds.

Lions fall to 0-5 in district

The Ennis Lions (4-17, 0-5) faced the defensively strong Mansfield Summit Jaguars (13-9, 4-1) Friday evening.

JV upended by Mansfield Legacy

Photo by Dave A. Vance / No. 2 Zach Arciba scored eight points against Mansfield Legacy Tuesday night. Six of his points came from sinking one three-pointer in each of the third and fourth quarters.

The Ennis JV Lions (7-5, 2-2) faced a conditioned Mansfield Legacy Bronco (13-4) team Tuesday evening. Turnovers were a problem for the Lions throughout the game and the Broncos snatched a 50-33 victory.

The Ennis Lions (4-16, 0-4) experienced their most devastating loss of the season with a 49-point spread during yesterday’s game against the Mansfield Legacy Broncos (17-7, 3-1). The Lions suffered a 74-25 defeat at the hands of the Broncos.

The Ennis JV Lions (7-4, 2-1) came back Friday from their holiday break to start the new year with a 43-42 victory over the Red Oak Hawks.

The Ennis JV Lions (6-4, 1-1) celebrated their second district game with a 64-51 victory over the Mansfield Lake Ridge Eagles.

The Ennis Lions (4-14, 1-1) have gotten off to a slow start during the first two district games this season and were unable to come back against the Mansfield Lake Ridge Eagles (8-5, 2-0) Friday. The Eagles flew past the Lions early in the game to claim a final 47-39 victory.
