Early childhood education good for long term

Early childhood education research shows that a structured learning environment early in life can be a key foundational element in success in classroom learning throughout a student's growth.
Experts have long studied the human learning process, producing results that have shed light on different types of “learners,” how environment plays a role in synthesizing information, proper curriculum planning methods for teaching advanced concepts and more.
One thing that has been common knowledge since before all of that science came to be was the idea that teaching a child to read and helping them to understand some basic skills before kindergarten were good ideas.
Pre-K classes, such as are offered at the Ennis Independent School District's early childhood education centers, can put a young student on a path that fosters learning and education with a foundation in understanding the classroom environment.
We bring this up now because March is the month to make sure your student is signed up and ready to go for fall classes at Crockett and Carver ECC here in Ennis.
Pre-K classes are shown to do multiple things for a young student:
• Raise standardized test scores.
• Increase high school graduation rates.
• Reduce grade repetition.
• Reduce placement in remedial or special education courses for underperforming students.
Access to a high quality pre-K program is not available to everyone, so taking advantage of what we have here in Ennis is in the best interest of eligible students. Family income levels help determine whether students qualify, so check and see whether your family or that of a friend meets the guidelines.
Call the EISD central office at 972-872-7000 or log on to the Web at www.ennis.k12.tx.us to track down more information about eligibility and the early childhood education centers available through our local school district.
