Care for our wild places


I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Kachina Prairie during last week’s controlled burn.

I’ve always had a good time covering the exploits of our local firefighters, and besides: I always enjoy coming back to the office smelling like a campfire. Luckily, the fire didn’t come at a cost of property or worse.

The Texas Land Conservancy conducted a controlled burn on the prairie, under the watchful eyes of Fire Marshal Gary Howell and the rest of the Ennis Fire Department.
