Center a need, so is a plan
There’s been some open discussion recently about the possibility of a Cultural Arts Center being built in Ennis.
On the surface, it’s a great idea and represents a need. We have no civic center here. When I first arrived, that was one of the shocking deficiencies I noticed. Having published newspapers in two towns much smaller than Ennis with not nearly as large a tax base, that made no sense.
However, after being here for a few months, it was clear that the local Czech halls served much of that need for the community. The Chamber of Commerce’s auction has been held at the Knights of Columbus and Sokol halls. Other events were held at those facilities along with the KJT and SPJST halls. However, there’s no facility set for performances and artistic endeavors.
