Chill out on ice bucket criticism

It didn’t take long for people to come out of the woodwork to pour cold water on the Ice Bucket Challenge (see what I did there?).

Just incase you’re only now waking up from a month-long coma, the latest fad to whip across the internet like wildfire is to publicly dump a bucket of ice water on your head, or be forced to donate $100 to the ALS Foundation to help fund research into Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Most people donate even if they do opt for the ice water, and as of today the challenge has raised upwards of $94 million for ALS research.

One would think that would be enough to make people happy: millions of dollars in research funding raised for a terrible disease, and we get hilarious videos on social media websites at which to gawk at the same time. Every party has a pooper, though.
