Don’t let fear dictate policy
An event planned by the Ellis County Conservatives set in downtown Waxahachie plans to honor San Jacinto Day, but it doesn’t take an insider to see what their real motivations are.
One of the primary motivations behind the Ellis County Commissioners Court’s terminations of evening meetings, aside from money, was safety. According to Precinct 2 Commissioner Bill Dodson, it is too risky to hold meetings after dark in downtown Waxahachie, and trying to secure the building during meetings is prohibitively expensive for the county.
It’s an argument that, obviously, falls apart in contact with anything resembling rational inquiry.
