Downtown coming back to life now


The acceleration of the effort to open Ennis Avenue to the public has been welcome around the community, and it shows a respectable desire to appeal to the public’s wishes in the face of uncertainty.

There have been no shortage of concerns over the state of buildings lining Ennis Avenue in downtown. Once the barriers came down across the street Wednesday afternoon and were moved into the parking along the city’s main drag, it became easier to see how little has changed since the morning of May 16, when the community awoke to a heartbreaking sight in the middle of a historic downtown.
