Downtown proposals open to public


Monday’s public hearing on the proposed plans to offer incentives for redevelopment work downtown is exceptionally important to all of us, and Ennis residents need to pack the meeting room.

Taxpayers here will be the ones footing the bill for the offerings. They include tax abatements similar to those offered to our community’s industries over the last two decades. Also on the table is a more controversial concept: Forgivable loans paid out in installments as redevelopment is handled and tenants come to town.
