Feeding youth is noble

Another year, another summer, another subset of people complaining about the summer nutrition program.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the briefs section on Page 3, you might not know that both Ennis and Palmer school districts are offering a free summer nutrition program to local kids. They’re simple programs; you show up at the prescribed location at the proscribed time, and you’ll get free lunch (or breakfast if you go in the mornings in Ennis). There’s no income requirements, no registration needed. Just walk in, get some food and go on about your day.

Seems like a simple, likeable program, right? Not much of a downside to feeding kids, I would think. But of course, someone had to have a problem with it.
