‘Lack’ of Ennis eateries a myth
Saturday night’s “VIP event” at Golden Chick was just another example of one of the awesome and unexpected things I get to do in this job.
It’s one of the perks of journalism: you don’t make a lot of money, but you get to do a lot of cool stuff others may only get to hear about. I’ve met several U.S. Congressmen including U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (he has really soft hands), I’ve gotten to ride brush trucks in the middle of wildfires, and I’ve even sat in the cockpit of an actual working A-10 Thunderbolt flown by a U.S. Air Force pilot.
All of that pales in comparison, however, with eating roasted chicken two days before the general public. Truly, H.L. Mencken was right: journalism really is the life of kings.
