Let’s hope for a new rating

You have to know Chief Jeff Aycock is glad for this summer’s relative mildness.

Last year at this time, drought was hitting us on all fronts. The lake was down — WAY down — the temperature was up — WAY up — and people were going crazy. Literally, the attitude of your average individual takes a nosedive when you have more than 40 days of 100-degree temperatures.

And in conditions like those, you have a perfect setup for wildfires.
