Loss of Air Evac yet another blow

Last Friday marks the end of an era in Ennis with the loss of Air Evac. Throughout the three years I’ve been here in Ennis I’ve covered a number of emergency situations during which one of Air Evac’s airborne ambulances were called in to transport a patient. Beyond their normal medical duties I’ve been to many civic events they’ve helped sponsor, and even got to see one of their aircraft up close when one of their pilots visited his daughter’s elementary school for a career day event. Hopefully, that’s as close as I’ll ever have to be to an Air Evac chopper.

Now, thanks to a “business decision,” our local aerial ambulance base is no more.
