No drones for you or me
This column was originally going to be about new laws going into effect Sunday about the civilian use of drones, but I’ve decided to flip the script a little.
For months now, I’ve been trying to convince EDN publisher Tre Bischof into buying the newsroom an unmanned drone for journalism purposes.
I’ve shown him multiple photos and videos taken using drone technology, in an effort to convince him and the company to drop the scratch on one. Partially because it would enable us to take aerial photography that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to take, and partially because I really just want to play with one. A big reason I got into this business was all the neat doodads, cameras and computers and the like. If it’s got buttons or knobs or a touchscreen, chances are I’m crazy for it.
