Public health focus shown through effort


It’s welcome news when Ennis’s situation is noteworthy because of a zero — as in our community’s to-date infection rate for West Nile virus in 2013.

Not all of the credit for that phenomenon can be attributed to the city’s proactive response to mosquito abatement and surveillance.

However, through lessons Ennis learned last year when Ellis County dealt with our share of the statewide spread of West Nile, spraying seems to be the way to go in helping keep our little corner of the county clear of disease-carrying mosquitoes.
