Stunning events stir action
The May 16 tornado was not my first, but it was certainly my craziest.
I covered my first tornado while working in Oklahoma, when one struck the small community of Wilson. I saw trailer homes disintegrated and scattered 100 yards down range while miraculously leaving the residents unharmed. But then that’s what you traditionally associate with tornado damage: rural areas bearing the brunt of destruction.
The tornado in Ennis was unlike anything I’ve ever seen in person.
