Three times we grow
Lessons in life introduce us to ourselves. Sometimes I’m not an enthusiastic learner, if at all.
I remember a particularly tough one that came wrapped up in a painful setback.
My wife and I were expecting our first child. We were in our late 20s and the anticipation was building as we passed the midway point in the pregnancy.
Five months in the excitement ended abruptly with the word we had miscarried what we had hoped would be our first-born. My wife was heartbroken. I will never forget driving that day along a suburban road in the suburbs of Detroit, yelling aloud to God.
