Time for more than nice words

This started as another piece of breathlessly worded, reactionary opinion on an event that has understandably cast a pall over our nation.
It started with the idea that the perspective of a writer in Ennis, Texas, literally across the country from Newtown, Conn., would make all the difference in locals’ understanding of how to cope, what to think and how to get back to feeling like normal Americans after we learned 20 children were massacred by an assault-rifle wielding malefactor.
