<p>A forensic anthropologist testified Wednesday that Marian Parsons suffered at least one gunshot wound prior to her burial in a dry creek bed near her Palmer home.</p>
<p>Debra Henderson, who is on trial for the murder of Parsons, has maintained that Parsons had a medical attack and was run over by the ATV she was riding in. Henderson said she panicked and buried Parsons under a slab of metal and other debris in December 2010.</p>

<p>Embattled chemical company Magnablend filed for permits for their future facility with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality last week.</p>
<p>Documents provided to the Ennis Daily News show Magnablend filed for a Notice of Registration, Industrial and Hazardous Waste permit for the new facility to be built on the former site of the Superconducting Super Collider.</p>

<p>Tickets for the Polka Festival’s biggest draw are on sale this week.</p>
<p>Festival coordinator Michelle Slovak said tickets for the annual Country Concert are available at Sports Connection in Ennis for $17. Tickets bought at the door will cost $20. Slovak said the country show is the festival’s most highly attended event, and helps pay for the rest of the weekend.</p>

<p>The impact of National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual food drive grew by leaps and bounds locally in 2012.</p>
<p>The area drive’s coordinator, Anna Odlozil Gunn, said she was honored to have the opportunity to lead the drive both this year and last, and is enthusiastic about this year’s tally of 9,583 pounds of food collected, or just under five tons of food. That’s up from 2011’s 7,423 pounds, or just under four tons.</p>

Libbie Blazek, 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the Baylor Medical Center of Dallas.<br />
Libbie was born in Crisp, Texas on December 30, 1925 to Josef and Emma (Trojacek) Haskovec. She grew up in Telico, Texas and graduated from Telico Schools in 1941. On July 15, 1947 she married Elick C. Blazek and they were lifetime residents of Ennis.<br />
She was the co-owner of Blazek Building Supply. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church of Ennis, KJZT #16 and SPJST. She was a very talented lady. A few of her talents included quilting, gardening, sewing and cooking. Her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a real gift for loving people and making them feel important.<br />
She is survived by three sons: Kenneth Blazek and his wife, Jo of Rice, Robert Blazek and his wife, Polly of Ennis, and Greg Blazek and his wife, DeAnna of Ennis; six daughters: Libbie Ann and her husband, Bill Veselka of West, Barbara and her husband, David Hornik of Ennis, Elsie and her husband, Joe Slovak of Ennis, Judy and her husband, Richard Hornik of Ennis, Irene and her husband, Brian Harlan of Palmer and Emily and her husband, Rick Langer of Ennis; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren, one sister, Leona and husband, Emil Gerich of Porter, Texas; sister-in-law, Olga Kirkland of Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elick C. Blazek on December 27, 1973, infant son, Elick A. Blazek, granddaughter, Jennifer Hornik on May 14, 1980, grandson, Andy Blazek on November 22, 2004, and two brothers, Joe Haskovec and Edwin Haskovec and his wife, Geraldine.<br />
Visitation will be on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. in St. John Catholic Church with Father Henry Drozd as celebrant. Pallbearers will be: Mark Veselka, Jason Blazek, Robert Kovar, Dale Hornik, Thomas Slovak, Russell Hornik, Justin McGahan, Ricky Langer and Nathan Blazek. Honorary Pallbears will be; Curt Veselka, Jeremy McGahan, Kevin Langer and Brandon Harlan. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.<br />
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Libbie&#8217;s name to the St. Joseph Cemetery Association, 401 E. Lampasas St. Ennis, TX 75119.<br />

The Ennis Independent School District is now accepting bid requests for Maintenance Category Bid Request, RFP: 06029122 for Materials, Supplies, Equipment and/or Services for the 2012-2013 school year. Deadline for submission of bids is Friday June 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., in the Business Office School Administration Building, 303 W. Knox St., Ennis, TX, 75119. Bids will be opened and read at this time. Pertinent information may be obtained by contacting Brenda Martinek, Purchasing, Ennis Independent School District, at 972-872-7014, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. CST Monday through Thursday.
