April 10 February 10 December 09 November 09 October 09 | March 2010 Reader wants to know what comes next (03-25-2010) (hide this letter) Now that the radical leftists have gone against the will of the majority of Americans and passed their partisan health care bill, what can we expect to happen next? How will the health care system be affected and what will be the final conclusion to their big government agenda? The Senate bill that the House Democrats passed against strong bipartisan opposition and against the will of the people is just the start for them. The aim of the leftists is not to make sure that insurance companies insure everyone, no way! The goal of these people is to control us, the American people. How will they accomplish this? First they will pretend that the only way to “fix” the system is to trash insurance as greedy SOBs that are only out to take advantage of the consumer and steal from us. They will convince the public that they are the only power that can control these mega-companies through regulations and feeding on the emotions of a gullible public. After they have whipped up the public into believing they are the saviors, they pass bills that are intended to bankrupt the insurance companies because of the massive regulation and “one-size-fits-all” approach. Pre-existing conditions, paying for adult children until age 26, and absolutely no limits to the payouts will be a good start toward accomplishing this. In the leftists’ wisdom, they will insist that everyone have insurance and will subsidize most Americans to do this. However, if one is not willing to buy insurance, one will have to pay a small fine. Many consumers, the young and healthy included, will choose to disregard making payments for insurance, as it will be cheaper to pay the fine until the sickness or the accident will make it necessary to have insurance. This by definition will mean that the only people in the insurance pools will be older and less healthy people. This by extension will make the costs of insurance go up for those people. With the pre-existing condition exclusion being illegal, when a person finally needs treatment for a disease or an accident buys into the pool, this will further increase the premiums and the cost of coverage bankrupting many of the companies or convincing them to quit the market before it is too late. Therein lays the nasty secret of the radical leftist brilliance of Obama. When, after a few months or years of this devious plan, the Socialist Marxists can show the same gullible public that all they told them before had come to pass, and the only way to “fix” it is to take complete control of the system. They know that it is too big to be swallowed in one big bite but if the keep biting away at it, soon they will control it all and us with it. It is mourning in America … Bill Carson Midlothian, Texas Resident opposed to slaughterhouse plan (03-09-2010) (hide this letter) By virtue of your position as a source seeking truth and sharing these facts with your readers, you are entitled to discern my views on the proposed slaughterhouse being planned for Navarro County and in my front door (home) of Ellis County. Thus, it is the purpose of this letter to inform you of my very strong opposition regarding this butchery. There are several reasons why I am against this animal plant. Among the reasons which concern me and other individuals are the following: The only road to this site is in a deplorable condition. The increased heavy truck traffic would only increase this grievous situation. The roads will not be able to handle this increased heavy truck traffic. Considering that the only road to this proposed plant is in Ellis County, will Navarro County build a road to this facility, and if so, when? How much money will it take to build this new road? The odor from this proposed plant would absolutely be horrific and the environment around this facility would be filled with the pungent stink. The neighborhood would greatly suffer with this smell! The animal waste would be an ideal location for insects to breed and multiply. These would cause major health problems for the citizens of both Ellis and Navarro Counties. In addition, other animals could easily be affected as well. The location is such that anything would and could be easily made in this plant without being observed. What is to happen to the animal waste and by-products? The body organs, hides, and other non-edible parts will need to be properly disposed of in some way and not dumped into Chamber’s Creek, one water supply for Fort Worth. I urge you to use all methods and means available to stop this proposed animal slaughterhouse. It is not desired, not needed, and not wanted in our community. James R. Brazier Ennis Road situation is terrible in Precinct 2 (03-09-2010) (hide this letter) You could put up a map of Precinct 2, throw a dart and it would land on a road that is “POTHOLE PLAGUED.” Our road conditions are horrible. At this rate of deterioration, we will be back to dirt before long. I know previous commissioners faced “cold/wet weather, short funds, and few employees,” but were able to hot top our roads and keep them in good condition. Mr. Commissioner, please print the county-wide road survey done by the Ellis Co. Engineering Department you spoke of in Thursday’s paper, and I know the residents of Precinct 2 would like to see a copy of our budget for the past several years. I encourage everyone in Precinct 2 to write a letter to the editor with their feelings, I know Kim and I are not alone. Nona Brock |
