Sims Friends President 2008-09 Golf tournament ends up a success (10-14-2009) (hide this letter) The 11th annual Cancer Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by the Boon family was a big success. With the generous support by the citizens of Ennis and contributions across Texas and the rest of the U.S., $56,500 was raised for the Mary Crowley Medical Research Center at the Baylor Health Care System in Dallas. Over the 11 years of the Cancer Memorial Golf Tournament, the support from many wonderful people has enabled the Boon family to donate greater than $432,852 to cancer research. Once again, the Boon family would like to thank all of the sponsors, golfers and volunteer workers who make the tournament successful. Bob Linstead Insurance agent highlights driver safety (10-07-2009) (hide this letter) My name is Jenny Vidrine and I am a State Farm agent in Ennis. In honor of the upcoming National Teen Driver Safety Week, Oct. 18-24, we’d like to spotlight teen driver safety and encourage parents, lawmakers, educators and young drivers to work together to improve the driving behaviors of America's teenagers and help save lives. Motor vehicle accidents are the No. 1 killer of teens in the United States. Five hundred Texas teens are killed each year in motor vehicle crashes. State Farm wants to protect the safety of our nation's youth by addressing this issue head on. That's why State Farm is a strong supporter of teen safe driving programs such as Project Ignition and Steer Clear, and why we choose to spotlight and support National Teen Driver Safety Week. Safety issues such as texting while driving, distracted driving, driving under the influence, driving at night and fatigued driving all continue to impact teen drivers and contribute to auto accidents. Thank you, Jennifer Vidrine Ennis |
