Ellis County GOP Executive Committee will be historic

On Nov. 1, the Ellis County GOP Executive Committee will hold their monthly meeting.

This night will be historic in the sense that County Judge, Carol Bush, will be present to report the reasoning behind the recent county tax increase voted on by the Commissioner’s Court.

There has been a motion to censure the court for taking this action. Which brings me to my reason for writing. It is extremely important that you, voting members and citizens, mark this meeting date on your calendars and attend.

Although a vote of censure will do nothing to change the affirmed vote to raise our taxes, it will however send a message to the court that this vote is unacceptable by the party and the people of Ellis County.

Whether you agree with the censure or not, your vote and voice should be heard on this issue.

It is important to note that the amount of the tax increase is not what is most important.

It is the fact that they took no suggestions from the citizens or the county auditor, Mike Navarro, prior to passing this increase. Moreover, they have since instituted some changes which have and/or potentially could result in savings to the budget. These changes could have been reviewed and instituted prior to making the increase if they had been prudent.

As a citizen of Ellis County, I urge you to take the time to attend this Executive Committee meeting and let your voices be heard.
