Polyguard President thanks ESB

On behalf of the employee owners at Polyguard, we would like to thank Ennis State Bank for being a valuable partner and looking out for our financial security. The personal attention they give us as a customer is why we trust them with all of our banking needs.

Polyguard was recently the target of a scam that attempted to electronically withdraw funds from our corporate account. Unfortunately, we see scam attempts all the time and are pretty good at spotting them, but this scam was especially clever.

The people behind the scam posed as an international customer that wanted to purchase some of our products. It wasn’t an unusual request as we regularly sell products overseas. We sold to over 30 countries last year. They had a legitimate looking company, knew what products they wanted to purchase, and understood the generally accepted ordering process.

At the end of the day, they cloned some of our email addresses and attempted to remove funds from one of our bank accounts instead of making a payment. The attempt failed as the transaction was blocked thanks to the quick action by Ennis State Bank’s employees.

It’s a shame that scam artists like this exist in the world, but we sleep better at night knowing that ESB is on our side.

Regards,

Shawn Eastham
