Bragg Appliance tames Maypearl Longhorns

Bragg Appliance coach Kelly Bragg places a high priority on quality pitching, and Monday’s early TTAB senior midget district game showed why.
BA scored more runs in the second inning than the Maypearl Longhorns did in the entire game, as the Ennis city champs rolled to an 18-7 win. As Maypearl used four pitchers and struggled its way to 22 walks, BA starter Chris Gonzales (6 IP, 4 ER, 9 H, 2 W, 1 HBP, 2 SO) only issued three free passes. All the walks allowed Maypearl to finish with more hits (9-5), but the visitors struggled mightily in the field with more errors (10-6).
“The pitching and defense was the main reason we won the game the way we did,” Bragg said. “You don’t have to hit the ball as much if you can pitch and play defense.”
