Suspect ‘doing well’ following shooting

The suspect shot in a Monday confrontation with an Ellis County Sheriff’s deputy in Bristol is in good condition, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies and Department of Public Safety’s Ranger Division are investigating the incident, described as a traffic stop following a separate report of a domestic incident at a nearby home. During the stop, authorities said, the man charged the deputy with a knife, and the deputy shot the man once in the abdomen.
The incident occurred in the 9000 block of FM 660 east of Palmer.
