The Ennis police department is investigating two murders that took place at a local apartment complex last night.
According to Police Chief John Erisman, at approximately 7:07 p.m., Tuesday, Ennis officers responded to the Silverton Village Apartments, located at 3700 E. Hwy. 85, after several reports of gun fire were called in on 9-1-1. Upon arrival, officers located the bodies of two Hispanic males. Erisman said officers were able to determine the men had died from apparent gunshot wounds.
The two bodies were identified as James Consuelo, 19, of Mesquite, and Miguel Salinas, 18, of Balch Springs, Texas. The tenant of the apartment also sustained minor injuries from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, but was treated and released from the Ennis Regional Medical Center.
The tenant of the apartment told officers his uncle, who resides in Lancaster, Texas, paid him money to allow a drug deal to occur at his apartment. Detectives believe the deceased males came to the location with the intent of robbing the man of his drugs and a gunfight ensued.
Witnesses at the apartment complex told police they saw several men run from the apartment and flee the scene in vehicles.
Ennis Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is still investigating the case and trying to locate all of the parties involved. Anyone with knowledge of the case is asked to call the Ennis Police Department at 972-875-4462.
