Child Find gives EISD tool to aid students

Ennis ISD is notifying the community that they offer comprehensive special education services to their students as part of a federal requirement, and are working to identify those students who have special education needs.

This program, called Child Find, helps to identify eligible students ages 3 through 21 years for special education services and children from birth to 21 years who have a hearing or visual impairment.

Students with special needs are then referred to the appropriate support personnel, called CARE teams, located on each campus, said Cliff Mathes, EISD special education supervisor. The CARE, or Catching At-Risk Early team, helps ensure that the child receives education geared toward their needs.

All referrals to special education services are confidential and the services are provided at no cost.
