A Corsicana man has been indicted for aggravated robbery by an Ellis County grand jury in the knifepoint holdup of a convenience store in September.

Det. Mike Hopson with the Ennis Police Department said Beer Warehouse on Ennis Avenue was robbed around 2:15 p.m. Sept. 12. Police jailed Geovani Mendez, a 23-year-old, who allegedly robbed the store at knifepoint.

Hopson said the clerk reported Mendez entered the store and asked for change for a $100 bill. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, Mendez allegedly rushed the counter and threatened him with a knife, taking two $100 bills from the register and forcing the clerk into a back office.

Two witnesses reported seeing a suspect flee the building and get into a vehicle parked outside, and Hopson said they worked together to block the suspect’s vehicle in.
