Even after nearly 40 years of working for Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Carey Bryan said he still loves to drive the bus.
When he was first hired in 1972 at what was then known as the Boys Club, Bryan worked in the woodshop and drove the bus at a club in Colorado Springs. He said driving the bus wasn’t something he thought he was cut out to do, but he’s glad he did.
“Sometimes, the job you aren’t really fit for is the job that helps you grow the most,” he said.
Now, even as executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Ennis, Bryan is one of the bus drivers. He said he finds driving the bus challenging, because he has to keep the children safe while maintaining order at the same time.
Bryan’s journey with the Boys and Girls Club has been lengthy, but his story really begins long before he started at the club.
