Ennis officials and Sysco Corporation officially signed off on an historic land deal in the city’s Industrial Park by agreeing to build an $80 million redistribution facility on 255 acres of land purchased from the city.

Sysco’s arrival in Ennis will bring approximately 300 jobs to the city and could ultimately be boosted to 600-800 jobs.

“Sysco will be a welcome addition to Ennis and is expected to become a major factor in the City of Ennis economy during the next decade,” Mayor Russell Thomas said.

The facility will become the largest industry in Ennis upon completion, roughly 2.5 times the size of Sterilite.

Ennis’ newest tenant is North America’s largest foodservice distributor and will use the planned facility to supply Sysco distribution centers in the region. Those distribution centers service restaurants, cafeterias, caterers, hospitals and nursing homes.

Sysco’s arrival marks another chapter in the recent industrial recruitment in Ennis.
