‘Treats’ sends July 4 shipment, looks to Christmas

Treats for Troops was created to help troops overseas by sending gifts and items of need.

Treats for Troops has managed a robust shipment to troops in harms’ way overseas to mark July 4 this year.

The shipment, mailed off last week with more than 60 boxes of goodies including food, personal hygiene items and notes from people here, was packed up and distributed without the normal appeals to the community at large for assistance. Organizer Harriett Adams said the timing of the shipment, wedged between the Polka Festival and summer vacation time for many residents, makes it harder for people to give.
