(Photo by Bertha Ortiz) A snap hailstorm in Ennis early Monday left widespread minor car and roof damage around town. Some pieces of hail measured at more than an inch in diameter. From a municipal operations perspective, the storm damage didn’t cause any significant losses, but assessments are still in the works.
Allen Samuels Autoplex General Manager Jason Neal said the lot, and its 500 cars, took a significant hit from Monday’s freak storm. His early estimate is $1 million in damage came from the golf-ball size hail, and an insurance adjuster for the company’s carrier is expected in the short term for an official assessment.
Ennis Ford representatives did not return calls for comment by press time.
