Local charity organizer and Ennis Economic Development Coordinator Marty Nelson says the Lion Cubs food backpack program needs some help getting through the holiday season.

The program, started in January 2013 with help from Ennis ISD, distributes food to children in need to take home on the weekend in backpacks. The rations include single-serve packages of cereal, milk, juice, crackers, fruit jerky, a fruit cup and more, according to information distributed by Nelson.
