Bad tax bills sent to Ennis

Ellis County sent a number of Ennis residents incorrect tax bills this week.

Ellis County Tax Assessor John Bridges acknowledged Thursday his office made an error in calculating taxes for citizens older than 65 living within the Ennis ISD tax district.

The mistake comes during the county’s first year of collecting taxes for both the city of Ennis and Ennis ISD. The school district voted to relegate tax collection to the county on June 12.
