Ennis police investigators and the Texas Rangers are searching for two suspects in the slaying of a person believed to be Waxahachie teenager Moriah Gonzales.
The EPD obtained arrest warrants for Jose Manuel Alvarado, 29 and Jennifer Samantha Puente, 18 on Thursday afternoon. The two are wanted for murder.
Det. Sgt. Mike Hopson of the Ennis Police Department said Puente was Gonzales’s friend, and Alvarado is apparently Puente’s coworker.
EPD Chief John Erisman released a statement today saying the body found still smoldering Saturday morning in the 2400 block of Knighthurst Road is believed to be Gonzales.
A missing persons report for Gonzales was filed on Tuesday. Police are unwilling to confirm with true certainty the body belongs to Gonzales until the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office completes its forensic investigation.
The suspects were last seen traveling in a 1994 Oldsmobile Bravada with Texas license plate number BS6R394 that is either black or dark in color. Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
The rumor surrounding Gonzales’ disappearance spread throughout Ellis County like wildfire via Facebook. A memorial page, “In Loving Memory of Moriah (Mia Gee)” was posted Wednesday with over 400 people already “liking” the page. The page links back to the personal page of “Mia Gee,” Gonzales’s alleged nickname.
