Bump in unemployment follows holidays

Ellis County’s unemployment levels grew in the first month of 2014.

After ending last year at a 5.4 percent marker, with 4,125 unemployed in a workforce of 76,908, the county’s joblessness grew to 5.6 percent.

Of it’s 75,212 person workforce in January, 71,000 reported gainful employment, leaving unemployment at 4,212 workers.
