The Ellis County Commissioners Court took no further delay in enacting the Ellis County burn ban on Monday night, citing conditions beyond the drought index.
Fire Marshall Joe Stewart said high temperatures, a dry forecast and a large “fuel load” of dead, dry grass throughout the county cause a fire danger independent of the Keetch-Byrum Drought Index.
