Carriers break food haul record

Saturday’s Letter Carriers Food Drive, part of the national Stamp Out Hunger campaign by the U.S. Postal Service, set a new record for the Ennis community.

According to Postmaster Jerry Gentry, the previous record of 10,720 pounds collected by area residents a year was topped when the scales at the Meier Recycle Center in Bardwell were tipped at 12,001 pounds.
