CertainTeed Corp. has boomed since its reopening in April, drawing closer to hiring goals and crossing production benchmarks nearly as soon as its doors opened.
The shingle production facility had been decommissioned in Feb. 2007, but growth in housing starts and demand for shingles caused the company to reconsider that shutdown. The company came before the Ennis City Commission in summer 2010 announcing plans to restart and applying for tax abatement incentives with a promise of 50 jobs and millions in capital investments at the plant.
