Changes made after child leaves school

Phil Banker, [email protected]

Palmer ISD Superintendent Kevin Noack said new protocols are in place after a Palmer Elementary student left school grounds during recess and went missing for almost an hour.

Noack said the school went into lockdown as authorities from the Palmer and Garrett police departments, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Highway Patrol and Garrett and Bristol Fire departments searched for the child.

“He decided that he wanted to leave campus, so he sneaked off campus, left recess, crawled over a fence, crossed the street and hid under a blanket on a porch.”

Noack said the child was found safely by the owner of the home.
