City: Damage may reach $6.5M

City Manager Steve Howerton presented to City Commissioners on Monday the latest damage estimates from the EF-1 tornado that struck Thursday, showing roughly $4.6 million in commercial and residential damage.

“That number is bound to grow,” Howerton said.

He said he expects final damage estimates to approach $6.5 million as state and federal assessors arrive today to begin their formal damage assessments.
