City OKs first budget reading

The Ennis City Commission passed the first reading of the fiscal year 2014-15 budget by a 4-2 vote, with Commissioners Ken Hackey and Brian Holley casting the votes against.

Ward 4 Commissioner Lola Searcy was absent.

Total appropriations for the coming year’s budget are $27,021,569, which according to a meeting agenda sent to The Ennis Daily News is $30,000 more than figures discussed at the Commission’s most recent meeting.
