City reports boost in taxable value

City Manager Steve Howerton announced the county tax assessor has increased the city’s taxable property value, resulting in a boost to the city’s coffers without a raise in taxes.
Howerton said tax abatement “roll-offs,” when tax abatements end and business and industries begin paying their full taxes, resulted in added value totaling $38.12 million, with a final certified tax evaluation of more than $1.3 billion.
