City seeks reimbursement

Ennis officials want to secure a grant to help reimburse the city for some of its tornado recovery costs in May.

Seeking about $130,000 in funds from the Texas Department of Agriculture Disaster Relief Fund will require a public hearing at the commission’s next meeting. City Manager Steve Howerton said the relief funds fall under a Community Development Block Grant program that requires the step, but officials expect little resistance from the public to the effort to reclaim city dollars.
