City to begin mosquito spraying

Phil Banker, [email protected]

The City of Ennis Health Department will begin spraying tonight in order to control a recently ballooning mosquito population.

Chauncey Williams, director of health services, said recent heavy rains created ripe conditions for mosquito breeding.

“We had higher counts of mosquitos we were getting in our collections,” Williams said. “The cutoff is 50 mosquitos per pool, and we were getting 190 to 200.”
