City’s tax plan allows it to drop hearing

The city’s proposal to leave its tax rate unchanged in the coming budget cycle means state law requires one less public hearing on the subject than the city customarily holds.
A hearing for the tax rate originally set on Aug. 19 has been removed. Instead, Ennis will hold a first and second reading of its new tax rate and budget ordinance during regular meetings of the Ennis City Commission set Sept. 3 and Sept. 16.
